Why Teenage Actor Headshots are So Important
A mother sends a late-night text, all in a fluster, “I need to speak with you tomorrow about booking a teenage actor headshot session for my son”.
Her child loves acting but is refusing to consider sharing his Showreel on Youtube. In other words, he doesn’t have a chance of being considered by casting directors.
One day she spies her teenage actor son rehearsing for his musical theatre production, her son’s persona transforms in front of her very eyes. Like a premonition, she sees her son’s future.
It is difficult for mum to reconcile her pride in her son’s ability with wishing he would follow his dreams of a ‘Hollywood’ career. If he only believed in himself!
Teenage Actor Headshots: The Key to Landing a Role?
Mum knows how difficult the teenage years can be. Angst and anger, dreams and hopes, the frustrations and problems we all go through. How do you move on?
My advice is simple but it’s what she needs to hear, we must keep moving forward because dreams are waiting for us.
I’ll meet you tomorrow in Ryde for a 30-minute session.
When I meet him, he’s eager and confident, not the tortured soul mom describes.
His excitement is palpable,
“I’m going to be a model too!”
“I photograph so well. I can really do this.”
“Oh my gosh, I look so good.”
“This place is fantastic. It’s like my show.”
What triggers this response? Having a professional who knows the industry is helpful. He seeks advice from a trusted expert. Someone that ‘gets him’.
This means that when you find yourself in a tight spot, you need to work with someone you trust. Someone who understands why you are overthinking and second-guessing yourself. Especially if you shy away from the camera.
If you are working to tight deadlines, there’s no pointing booking a full branding session. You need efficient sessions from someone who is able to stop stressful problems from becoming hurdles otherwise you won’t be able to complete your project.
What Makes a Good Teenage Actor Headshot?
Similarly, if you are trying to take your own photos, there’s no point in using your phone no matter how impressive modern technology is. People who see these photos subconsciously rule you out amateur and won’t take you seriously.
And of course, that means if you haven’t worked up the courage to be photographed yet, you need to get on and ready my guide ‘3 easy ways to be more confident during your photoshoot’.
Otherwise, you’ll be missing out on the love and joy in your family,
“The rest of the boys love the photos too and we all agree it’s time for a family photo session. So brilliant to see his eager wee face, big thank you for the wonderful work you created.”
