Sandown Model Photography on the Isle of Wight
I broke three cardinal rules to work with Yasmin:
- don’t shoot at midday
- don’t work in winter
- don’t trip over my reflector (again)
The first thing I noticed about Yazmin was her sense of style – in fact, I’d started chatting with her on Instagram because I was bidding for a fabulously sleek top by Black Milk Clothing she’d recommended. I lost the bid (but gained a friend).
It didn’t take long for Yazmin to reach out to me – can I take her picture? Shyly admitting mum is always nudging her to get some great photographs taken.
A few months back I spied this location in Sandown, I’m a super big fan of neutral backgrounds that put the focus on people’s expressions. Sleek silver metal created cool tones that work perfectly with Yazmin’s style (she was right to choose classic black outfits), providing shelter from the biting cold winds.
Jumping right in with confidence, Yazmin braved the northerly winds and engaged the camera with humour and intent. Seeing the quality in her intense eye-contact. Loving her fiery look. Yasmin’s eyes are amazing. So real did her laughter seem, that I knew everyone would applaud her images. See her Facebook album here to see if I’m right.
Yazmin is a friend everyone needs in their life. A supporter and champion to her friends. She’s come a long way in her life with hard work and determination. Approaching life with a kind heart and a strong mind. She’s the perfect blend of strength and emotion, which makes her one of a kind. Her light-hearted laugh and undying spirit for life is a joy to photograph.
I hope these images inspire Yazmin to continue modelling!
