Using a film camera to capture Portraits, Isle of Wight
As she slips towards the marsh, Charlotte can feel the watery warmth of the autumnal sun, burning off the mist. Softly caressing us as it swirls and disappears. Enjoying the unexpected serenity in the Seaview bird reserve, she’s never been the centre of attention for so long. The mustard scarf perfectly styled against the marshy reeds, the textured fabric in contrast to her porcelain skin, the slimming dark denim jeans all make her feel more confident than she expect to.
A long-time friend of the family, she had known I wanted to photograph her with my new film camera (a Nikon F100 with Porta 400 for my geeky friends). But had no idea how much a session with me can open the gates to a revitalised spirit.
Hoping for a vision of natural beauty – organic, easy and self-confident. I strived to keep my session all about Charlotte. Capturing her confidence and celebrating her personality. Helping it shine through the images and recorded for posterity on beautiful analogue film.
