Ryde Photographer | Portrait tips
You are amazeballs!
Yes, you.
Forget that you’re super scared of leaping into a photo shoot, going after your dream of modelling.
Dismiss those negative thoughts wishing you’d fail, describing all the things that can go wrong:
- Choosing the wrong outfit
- Having a bad hair day
- Looking like a fool
- Feeling nervous
- Not knowing what to do
Fear keeps you stuck. Traps you in a zone of comfort. Holding you back.
Is this you?
What if I told you everyone confesses to feeling nervous before they meet me?
You’d love to have your photograph taken in Ryde, but you’re also embarrassed to ask, so you retreat into your comfort zone.
Doing nothing is a sign of fear. Desire gives you hope. Which are you going to choose?
Sometimes we all need a helping hand. A gentle nudge to open the door. To make changes to our mindset.
Consider all the things that can go right:
- I’ll use Mandy’s style guide and eBook to choose my clothes
- Mandy will show me how to stand and direct the session
- I’ll be able to review the pictures during the session
- My ‘On the Day’ magazine will explain the process
- It’s ‘OK’ to feel nervous, everyone does.
Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience ….” You’ll be able to say to yourself, “I love these photographs and Mandy made it so easy.”
Take a leap of faith.
Jump right in.
Get started today (even if you don’t feel ready).
The daft thing is, when you look back at your photographs, thinking of all the fun you had, you’ll realise it was your fears where I helped you most. And overcoming your initial inhibitions brought you the most joy.
Looking at these photographs, I want to tell you that it’s normal to feel camera-shy, so don’t listen to that tiny voice in your head cackling, “You don’t photograph well. Or that you hate your smile. Or that Mandy only photographs models.”
It’s time to change those negative preconceptions.
What is your heart telling you? Listen to your innermost thoughts. Allow yourself to acknowledge you’d love to have a photograph that is happy, confident and beautiful. Just like your friends. No matter how embarrassed you might be.
Don’t wait for permission to do something for yourself. If you’re waiting for the right time, the time is NOW. Here is your challenge:
- Find a photograph you love
- Screenshot it
- Send it to a photographer and ask for support
- Say, “I’d love to look this happy and natural.”
Life is too short, every second you doubt yourself is a step away from happiness. To help you move forward I’m sharing these helpful posts:

Learning to love yourself and make the changes you desire is hard. So I’m giving you permission to be true to yourself.
