You are prettiest when you are happy
I love this picture (not mine) found on the Facebook stream of a client I worked within the Autumn. At the age of *cough* I had ‘myspace’, I didn’t know anything about Facebook.
Later, all my photo buddies started using Facebook so I set up my own account – by the end of the year, I found family members I never knew I had, my circle of friends grew and plenty of new clients contact me via my business page.
I’m known for my happy, natural portraits in and around Cowes. So here are 3 ways to enjoy portraits that show you with happy smiles.
One of my friends loves the photos and your natural style so much, that she asked for your e-mail address. She’s really looking forward to a photoshoot as well in the future when you have free time for that again:) and I shared your Facebook page so my friends can get information of you as well:) Holly
Natural portraits: Three tips
#1 – Feel excited about your portrait session
Booking a custom portrait session is a brave move. Not everyone feels comfortable about standing in front of the camera. Use that nervous energy. Remember the time you drove the car for the first time? The thrill is exhilarating. Portrait sessions are exactly the same. Shake off those nerves and throw yourself into the session. You won’t regret embracing the experience, even if it was a little outside your comfort zone.
#2 Act quickly, Trust your instincts.
We all tend to feel comfortable (or uncomfortable) based on our gut instincts. If you are feeling awkward or embarrassed, this will show in your portraits. If you are feeling ‘out of kilter’ don’t be afraid to ask for a change of location, pose, or outfit. I have a few tricks up my sleeve that is tried and tested. I have an inherent belief that modern women are beautiful when they are happy. If something doesn’t ‘work’, move on quickly to the next idea. We need to build trust by showing respect and understanding towards your special qualities that make you – you.
#3 Have fun
Know that you are appreciated for who you are, not just another person in front of the camera. I take time to connect with who you are, I find out what makes you tick. The portrait session should be an experience and an enjoyable one at that. My tricks – I’ll natter on about the weather, sing a little ditty or even stride out to ‘whey hey, we’re the Monkies’ to ensure happy, natural portraits – guaranteed.
How I look after you
Don’t worry. I’m here to help. Anticipate the nerves, excitement, and fun you can have during a custom portrait session on the Isle of Wight. Having your photograph taken is a moment to be remembered. Taking that bold step is the first move – after that – let me do the hard work. I’ll guide you with confidence and make you feel totally at ease.
