2017 Goals for an Isle of Wight Studio Photographer
A quick hello from me, with the best wishes for a Happy New Year. It’s 10.27 in the morning (and I’ve not got out of bed yet). The perfect way to start a new year and set my photography goals for the year ahead.
2016 was a time of great change: Leaving London, moving away from financial security, and settling into a new home (lovingly renovated with blood, sweat, and tears). The roller-coaster of emotions has revealed: new friends, fresh discoveries, and creative explorations.
Pushing myself to learn new skills, I listened to my heart (and calmed the fears that held me back). Ignoring the pressure of public scrutiny (and the critical voice whispering disparaging comments from within). Creating portraits that made me happy, I decided to be bigger, better, and bolder. Leading the way with my film photography, Instagram stills, and old-fashioned studio portraits reminiscent of Old Dutch paintings.
Listening to my fears. Acknowledging them and taking control; I found the foundation of my photography. Portraits that are full of life. Photographs of modern women that are confident: shining a light on their intelligence, joy, and courage.
My camera is the hidden door to my sitter’s true beauty.
“Watch carefully, the magic that occurs, when you give a person just enough comfort, to be themselves.” – Harper Lee
It can see further than first appearances. It can see further than new clothes and fresh make-up. When I trust my heart I intuitively draw out your true character and, when you find yourself in front of my camera, your true beauty will be reflected back at you.
I know this post is very self-indulgent, and it will be a while before you pluck up the courage to book a date for your portrait sitting – and it’s OK. You’ve never been photographed properly before, with me, you can’t go wrong. You just need to give yourself time to trust in my guidance. I’ll explain what colours to wear, show you how to stand, and guide you through the session. Before you know it, time flies by and you’ll quickly realize it’s become easier and your confidence grows.
The first step is to tell me why you want a new photograph. Do you want to know the secret? Listen to your heart (it always tells the truth).
Secondly, you need to take action – even if you have to face your fears.
Well, 2016 is over. It’s a time for a fresh start and I have just the thing you need. The perfect gift. I’m offering 12 sessions (1 per month) that will help you feel confident and beautiful, with memories to keep forever.
Natural portraits to share with your friends – designed for modern women (+men) that are ever-so-slightly camera-shy. Just what you need, right now.
