Natural portraits – Isle of Wight – Ryde photographer
When I put out a casting call on Twitter I was bowled over by fellow enthusiasts’ generosity – one re-tweet later and I’d been introduced to Emily, a teen model with the agency Bonnie and Betty.
It’s easy to imagine a sweet-natured, soulful young lady who commands attention with her calm, confident, and assured gaze. Her megawatt smile and optimistic disposition made me eager to work with Emily (& mum) to produce an easy going photo session in Ryde, on the Isle of Wight.
These natural, fresh, and elegant photographs are the product of Emily’s positive outlook on life. With her highly enjoyable approach to working with professional photographers, she injected positive energy into each and every location.
We met early in the morning after deciding which 3 outfits to wear. Jumping right into my favourite location in Ryde, we chose to use a rustic backdrop to compliment Emily’s fabulous fashion sense and luminous complexion. When I met Emily in Puckpool Park, a stone’s throw away from my favourite grungy location for natural portrait sessions, I found a cheerful teen ready and eager to jump right in with her Doc Martins, daisy bracelet and summer dress with clean, simple lines.
Emily is the sort of quietly spoken, serene teen that knows what she’s about – you’d expect to find her to jumping about on trampolines with her friends in the back garden and then trying out blue nail varnish for a dare.
As we stroll to a world war bunker – a quiet corner hidden behind the car park – Emily is at her most enthusiastic. We natter on about Justin Timberlake (we’re big fans) and the Gangham style craze (much loathed). Articulate and confident, Emily reveals a natural affinity for working with people, and she is bound to go far in her teen career.
The session took just under two hours (mum had to get back to work) and we finished in a quiet corner of the park. It’s here that the magic happens. Right at the end. When everyone is relaxed and feels energized by the session – I asked Emily to look one final time right into the camera.
I produce stylish portraits for the modern professional that are neither cliched nor formulaic. The portraits in my portfolio are full of character and detail, captured during relaxed sessions that are ever-practical and fun – so they are easy on the purse strings and appreciated by couples or families too. So get in touch.
