Artistic Portrait Photography in Firestone Copse
Firestone Copse is beautiful in the summer, but it lacks the glowing confidence that Ellie provides towards the end of the session. In between getting lost in Firestone’s fir trees and stumbling over roots, Ellie and I nattered ten to a dozen whilst her friend sat on a log waiting for our giggles to dissipate. Luke was invaluable during the session, although he might not agree, as he jiggled a broken collar bone whilst holding my light stand with patience, and I’d like to say ‘thank you’.
I met Ellie via IG when I noticed a photograph with a snake coiled around her waist, the balmy summer heat of June shut down my ambitions of snakes, Ellie and fantastical portraits. Greeting me with a smile and a bag bursting with the cutest dresses shimmering with sequins, I adored Ellie instantly. Her beauty and her cleverness and her sweet, warm nature makes her a favourite in any circumstances.
Our success in this photoshoot brought with it the draw back that we had too many photographs to choose from. As always, we moved around a variety of locations carefully selected for their quiet corners and beautiful backdrops, Firestone Copse has too many choices and it’s difficult to narrow down which glorious, summery corner to use next. With her natural wit and effortless grace, Ellie nattered about long boards, her dogs and photographic projects that inspire.
The last photographs were created by Ellie, I was about to pack away when she mentioned my recent story on IG explaining why lying down shots work so well. These are my favourite of the day and I think Ellie nailed it.
I’ve photographed all over Isle of Wight and there are tons of locations I admire, but there is something special about Firestone Copse. It’s really breath taking. Ellie, I can’t thank you enough for such an amazing day! You’re the best!
