Let me tell your story – Photography for couples in love

Celebrate your life and laughter with portraits that tell your story

I was invited to dinner the other evening.

Inevitably the conversation turned to politics, religion, and the state of the economy. There was plenty of discussion and disagreements. As there was a lull in the conversation, I was asked to explain what I do.  By the end of the conversation, I realised everyone had stopped to listen. People genuinely wanted to know how I capture natural smiles and family fun during a portrait session on the Isle of Wight.

So what did I tell them?

  • every family is different
  • we all have a unique outlook on life
  • no two sessions should be the same

No.

I described my favourite portrait session to date on the Isle of Wight. How I bought a pre-loved cuddly toy from a charity shop to use as an ice-breaker with the couple. That I chose coloured beads from a stall at a garden fete as a thank you gift.  How the session ended in a game of hide-and-seek looking for their goodbye present.

I realised just how much I customise my approach to meet the outlook of my couples.

Every family I photograph is important.

Your portraits, storybook, or heirloom should be a story of your life, laughs, and memories. Not a scrapbook.  I design custom boasting books for grandma and coffee table books to display around the house. What better way to document your family history? Better still, you can share than during the next lull at the dinner table.
