Who books a professional photographer in Seaview?

What type of women hire Mandy’s studio in Seaview?

Meet the modern girl – she’s a working woman with a busy lifestyle, well traveled, educated, an individual in her own right who is relaxed but has a confident style.

She is a consumer who is sociable and respectful with strong values, and most importantly she makes considered purchases. So why the hesitation in booking a photoshoot with a professional photographer?

When people first start arranging their own professional portrait, there’s a lot of anxiety involved.  People are afraid to ask their photographer these simple questions: when’s best to meet, where shall we take the photos and what shall I wear?  Answers here.

I want people to be comfortable asking me questions, so enjoy this post on popular questions before your portrait session in Seaview and I hope it goes some way to easing your mind.

Question 1 – How much does it cost?

Without fail, the first question people ask is how much it will cost them. Choosing the right photographer is mind-boggling, so it’s understandable when people narrow down the right professional by how much they can afford. If I want to buy a new laptop – the first thing I do is look at which ones I can afford, after that, I start to read the details, in mind-boggling detail.

Of course, you want to know how much it costs – a professional photographer will be happy for you to know! Prices should be clear and upfront – no hidden costs or unexpected surprises.

Question 2 – How do I book?

It seems people were afraid to ask questions because they felt they should already know the information. If you’ve never worked with a professional photographer before, it may not be obvious what happens next. How to hire a photographer advice

This week I was looking to buy a summer house for the garden – I immediately felt overwhelmed with my choices and felt foolish when I couldn’t describe the size of my garden. As a result, I scurried away without choosing my shed.

A typical timeline goes like this:

  1. call your photographer to see if you’re a good fit for each other
  2. read the session guide delivered to your in-box
  3. choose a date that works well
  4. complete the photographer’s questionnaire
  5. narrow down a location close to home
  6. receive your what to wear guide
  7. send a photo of your outfits to your photographer
  8. pack the night before and arrive early the next day
  9. have fun

Question 3 – Where are you based?

The Isle of Wight isn’t that bigger a place – which is why I love living on the Island. There are so many nooks and crannies around the corner of your home that can be used as a relaxed, natural setting for your portraits. All I need is a willingness to have fun, outfits that reflect your zest for life, and open space.

Although I live in Seaview, I’ve traveled to Newport, Freshwater, Cowes, and, of course, everywhere in between. I tend to choose locations that are: close to your home, near transport links, and have facilities such as coffee shops.

Question 4 – What shall I wear?

Without a doubt, the most common question and an area that causes the most anxiety. Lots of photographers use Pinterest to share ideas (EXAMPLE), but I like to help you personally. Once we’ve narrowed down the location & I’ve done a recce ahead of time I’ll give you a call and suggest possible outfits. It goes something like this:

  • if there is a textured blue gate, I’ll suggest a summer colour in soft materials to provide a colour pop and interplay of texture
  • if there is a blossoming shrub, I’ll suggest organic colours and gold jewellery to convey a fairytale feel
  • if there is an urban walkway, I’ll suggest jeans, sunglasses and loose flowing hair to give the impression of casual chic

I also provide a fully illustrated style guide bursting with colour charts, real-life examples, and tips from the pros. My desire is to provide a personal service based on integrity, honesty and jargon-free sincerity. I even encourage my clients to send over a snapshot of their outfits the night before so I can offer last-minute guidance, I’m here to help!

How to find a good photographer on the Isle of Wight

How to find a good photographer on the Isle of Wight

Modern photography aims to create beautiful images that depict individuals, couples or families as they really are. Professional photographers are able to take a ‘snapshot’ and take it one step further – to create moments that we see everyday and enhance the moment with beautiful details.

The people in my portfolio aren’t professional models, but I was able to make them feel and look as if they are.

You don’t need to visit exotic places to capture light-hearted portraits. Choose locations around the Isle of Wight tailored to your families’ interests. If you have fun and enjoy the process, you’ll be sure we catch those fleeting moments that will make you smile for years to come. Here’s how to get started.

What happens on the day?

A great portrait is created when a person’s true nature and character are captured in a portrait. Most people don’t feel comfortable opening up for strangers, and that is why connecting with your photographer is important to the success of your portrait session.

Ask to meet your photographer for a consultation or speak with them the day before. Talk through:

  • how do they work,
  • what can you expect
  • and do they offer any advice when getting ready?

Where do the sessions take place?

After you’ve got a feel for your photographer’s style and approach. You can narrow down the location. Aim to shoot in a park near to your home is close to facilities and has easy transport links.

Most photographers expect to travel to your home or to a location convenient for your family. Find a quiet area where bystanders won’t distract your family and make you feel self-conscious.

How do they create natural smiles?

Professional photographers work hard to provide an atmosphere of mutual respect. Individual photo sessions are often quite intimate affairs – just you, your photographer, and your photo session. Fun-filled session tips here.

Embrace your photoshoot and enjoy the experience, having a photo session can be intimidating so ask your photographer to talk through your concerns and listen to how he or she is ready to alleviate your issues. A caring response is often all it takes to trust your photographer after all their business is to make you happy.

Are they flexible?

Feeling confident about your session will strengthen your connection with the photographer. You want to hire a professional that will be encouraging, respectful, and flexible.

Make sure you are comfortable with the finer details – ask for their welcome pack, peruse the policy document, and complete the questionnaire ahead of time. During the portrait session on the Isle of Wight you want to truly relax knowing your photographer can run with the session whatever happens.

Would give more than 5 stars if I could! The whole experience from start to finish was just perfect. Before my shoot, I received loads of handy tips on what to wear and how to pose in front of the camera which was so helpful. On the day of the shoot, I felt like the whole day was catered towards me. Any nerves were quickly reassured with Amanda’s professional and friendly approach. Her vast knowledge of photography and modeling poses meant we got some great shots that I cannot wait to see properly! Thank you Mandy for a great day. What a genuinely kind and talented lady!

I hope you find a photographer that can show you how they work, are flexible in their approach, and are confident to create natural smiles for happy portraits. Remember, the key to a successful portrait isn’t expensive equipment or a new outfit – it’s the strength of connection and rapport you build with your professional.

If you want photos that show a truly relaxed style, concentrating on what is important to you or your family – life, love, and laughter – I’ll be happy to help.

Want to know something surprising about Holly?

She loves chickens and names them after coffee drinks.

Her favourite?

Latte (because she’s the cutest).

Which sums Holly up perfectly – beautiful, obviously, but funny, clever, and creative, too.

If you have any questions at all before booking your natural portrait experience,I’m here to answer them over the phone, via email or even through skype if you prefer.

This is your big day and expectations will be high. I will work tirelessly to ensure it exceeds your hopes from the outset.

Common questions include:

  • What outfits should I bring?
  • Where’s the best location?
  • How long will it take?
  • Can I add an extra person?
  • Can you accommodate special needs?

Your questions help us to develop the relationship that will give you the photographs you can’t wait to print. ( 3 QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD ALWAYS ASK YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER)

Ryde 2020 Isle of Wight

What happens during your photo session?

A popular choice for many of my clients is to ask for a fresh and vibrant approach to their lifestyle portrait. A fluid pace tends to suit their vibrant outlook on life.

Natural-looking portraits are very contemporary and are the perfect choice for social media sites and professional profiles online. I always start with a little direction when we first meet as it provides a great boost and helps the sitter feel confident.

Professional photographers will also sprinkle a few prompts throughout the session, such as “sit on the bench” or “go and buy a coffee”. Everyday activities allow the photographer to throw on a long lens and photograph casual scenes such as sipping coffee whilst enjoying the sun.

A Lasting Impression

In this modern age, I work with digital which ensures you don’t just get to pick one picture you like but lots! These can then be printed at your leisure in whatever size you choose yet I must recommend that you think seriously about the printing, as low quality can ruin the magic we created together on the day!
