Great portraits are always polarizing.
Clients and customers love them. They become my biggest fans. Their photos get the most Facebook loves (see what I mean). 98 ❤️ and 31 comments celebrating Annabelle’s fabulous portraits.
And then there are people, glancing from the side-lines wishing they could find the confidence to shine as Annabelle does. If sounds like you, read on and get a sense of who I am.
Session tip 1 – I’ll answer all your questions and take you through every step of the process
When I was first approached by Annabelle via my FB site I was so excited to hear that she loves fitness, horse riding, and smiles! Jumping from foot to foot on my front doorstep, I couldn’t wait to see Annabelle’s ideas for her portrait session on the Isle of Wight. After a warming coffee was cradled in our hands, ideas were flying back and forth – what does she need the photos for, which outfits work well for a studio session, and how long will the portrait session take?
Hugging myself with delight, I just knew the final portraits would be glorious not only did we set this studio session in a short amount of time but Annabelle has such a sweet soul and her enthusiasm is inspiring.
Session tip 2 – at the start of every session I match outfits to backgrounds
Chatting together we narrow down why Annabelle needs new photos. The energy between us crackles as we ooooo and ahhhh over her fabulous outfits. Each piece carefully was chosen using my ‘what to wear guide’ and ties in beautifully with my advice on how to wear her make-up for the photographs.
Looking through her summer portraits in Appley Park, I listen carefully whilst asking tentative questions because I always encourage my clients to share your own ideas. Wasting no time, we just run with it! Simple sessions. Easy setups. Putting the focus on supporting you. Giddy with laughter I suggest, “Jump onto the back of the sofa, let’s start here.” And the fun begins.
Session tip 3 – Start with relaxed poses
Annabelle is a very talented gal and is gifted with an eye for colour, texture, and design. Her elegant framing gave our photographs that polished, confident look that I aspire to create for all my women. We started the session with lots of simple suggestions – seated poses that look fresh, natural, and flattering whilst nestling on my leather chair.
Session tip 4 – share your hopes and dreams
During the session, I asked Annabelle why she enjoys working with me. In part, it’s because she relishes the opportunity to have her own personal photographer to guide her in front of the camera. Not to mention I only schedule one session per day, so Annabelle enjoys a session dedicated just to her.
Hearing my client’s hopes and dreams is ‘my why’:
- Why I love watching your personality come alive in front of the camera.
- Why I love seeing oodles of positive comments on their photos
- Why I love celebrating book launches with a new author photo
Doing all in my power to ensure Annabelle enjoys her portrait experience, from first contact, throughout the session and after the images are personally delivered. I strive to make you relax, have fun and so the photographs show the real *you*.
I produce stylish portraits for modern women that are neither clichéd nor formulaic. The portraits in my portfolio are full of character and detail, captured during relaxed sessions that are ever-practical and fun – so they are easy on the purse strings and appreciated by couples or families too.
