Appley Beach | Portraits with Annabelle
Winding my car through the maze of tourists towards the small spaces afforded by Appley Beach carpark, I was eager to photograph Annabelle’s beautiful portraits with the utterly buttery, summery light on Ryde’s beach.
The park compromises of an old golf course surrounded by mature oak tree with two key pathways, the best of which takes us down to the beach, one of my favourite places to take natural headshots.
Although the area was busy with visiting tourists, by my count the beach was almost wholly taken over by families carrying buckets, spades and umbrellas, I hugged with excitement.
“Sorry I’m late,” smiled Annabelle. I was secretly relieved. I’d left without my purse and the parking app wasn’t working for me (and typically there was a ticket inspector on the prowl). I needed some extra time to solve my parking conundrum.
Annabelle was amazing to work with, fully embracing my free-flowing approach to natural portraits. I really wanted the below performer photographs to speak for themselves, so here are my favourite photographs taken with my film camera (F100 with Porta 400).
Here are the last film portraits I took with my F100 camera in Appley Park.
