… what shall I bring?
Getting ready for your portrait session should be fun, putting together your perfect outfit for your custom session may seem overwhelming. No need to worry! I’m here to share some ideas so you can relax and enjoy pampering yourself.
A fully illustrated style guide is offered as standard for everyone who books their portrait session as part of my service to you.
1. Choose clothes that reflect you.
Be yourself. Be true to your personality. Any outfit that is comfortable, fits well and flatters your shape is perfect. If you feel good, you’ll look good.
- Be confident in your choices
2. Choose a single colour!
To make your images POP choose tones and shades that go well together. Have a look at what I mean. Vibrant colours photograph well, they also convert beautifully into black and white. To create timeless images, you might want to avoid logos or busy patterns. They tend to date your portrait and prove a distraction.
- Vary your outfits with layers
3. Layer up!
Combine three out fits in one with coats, scarves and light tops. Simply pulling on a jacket or slipping on another shawl creates the illusion of a new outfit, without a variety of changes. Keep it fun with costume jewellery, head wear and footwear to keep your outfit vibrant.
- Bring accessories that reflect your personality
4. Don’t forget about your accessories!
Add the finishing touches with bold pieces. Natural poses are created when you pull on a necklace, tweak an ear-ring or hold a bangle. These are natural movements and ensure your restful pose looks spontaneous. Other props, such as headphones or reading books, are great if they reflect your personality and complete the outfit.
