“My daughters have had their photos taken so many times, but I’ve never come across a photographer who managed to capture their personalitys as well as Amanda!! Her clever ways to get the girls to smile naturally really work & I’m so happy with the finished images that I can’t stop looking at them.” East London
London Family Photography in Victoria Park
Children are bundles of energy and one of the most rewarding to capture during a photo session. Here’s how we captured colourful images bursting with emotion and personality in Victoria Park.
Family H. contacted me via twitter when they saw my work on a local forum. They wanted to update their family portraits and were full of cute, curious and mischievous energy despite the overcast day. We met in the morning so the children were excited and fully of lively excitement – my aim was to capture images that reflected their sense of fun and result in images that stay with the family forever.
We started by a walk around the swan lake, a visit to the loos and cafe for a cup of coffee. I never rush to pull out my camera as it’s important to give children the chance to act natural and look relaxed. Once the children have settled into their surroundings, the next step is to let children have full reign to play in the park.
Unlike their parents, children are more playful and less self-conscious in front of the camera. This makes it much easier to capture their true personalities. Whether it’s running along the bridge or hiding behind the tree – children are incredibly expressive.
