Natural, relaxed portraits on the Isle of Wight
How to prepare for your photo session …
… discover the best out fits for a portrait experience
The problem with lifestyle photography is that we have too many choices. How do we narrow down our favourite outfits?
We flip through glossy magazines, peek at others in the changing room and think black is slimming. It’s easy to choose your favourite outfit, but how do we know if it photographs well or flatters our figure?
Preparing for your photo session should be fun, like getting ready for that birthday treat. Stylish portraits are created when you follow these simple tips.
Choices for Clothing
#1 Sleeves – long sleeves allows your face to be the focus
#2 Neckline – a wide neckline tends to add weight to your face
#3 Colour – use colour, but be aware of it’s affect
#4 Patterns & prints – can be a distraction from your face
# 5 Hairstyle – sweep back away from the face to avoid shadows in the eyes
#6 Makeup – strive for subtle enhancements with lip gloss, mascara and a good foundation
Banish that nervous feeling you thought you wouldn’t experience by sharing what you’d like to wear with your photographer prior to the session – he or she’ll be able to tell you right away whether they’ll photograph well. The key is finding out what works best for you and then using that to create a level of comfort and confidence.
Just like the excitement when getting ready for your birthday bash or the glow you feel when you find the perfect outfit, lifestyle sessions can give that feel-good factor. Call to ask about your session.
