London photographer produces natural portraits – South Bank
1 set of lost keys. 2 coffees shared. 3 security guards asking us to move on.
Michelle rushed through the middle of the National Theater gushing, “Sorry I’m late!” A broad grin and wide hug, “I was locked out of the flat”.
The session starts with coffee and a sticky bun. Sipping our dark beverage, calming those first time nerves. We share our stories – the lost keys, the careless flat mate and the luxurious fur coat that Michelle wore on arrival.
Heading outside, Michelle teases me, a twinkle in her eye. In between our shared stories and casual exchanges, I knew we’d made firm friends.
What shall we try first? Where’s your favourite corner? How does this scarf work?
We laugh as our first pictures are shared. Our goal – simple. natural. relaxed images that showcase Michelle’s outlook on life.
“What a great photographer Amanda is!…..inventive, professional, producing original work of high value. She was exceptionally good playing with lighting that made all the difference to the quality of pictures . It was great, enjoyable shoot.” Michelle Wakeling
I watch as Michelle rests against the textured wall of the South Bank. The soft evening light smooths her features – calm. relaxed. at ease. Everything we’d hoped for.
Communication is such a huge part of any portrait session. Michelle chatted through her nerves and asked constant questions, where shall I put my hands, does this look OK, where shall I look?
Simplicity – it’s harder than you think
Guiding Michelle to stand against the wall, looking out to the clouds and watch the tourists on Waterloo Bridge, easy portraits are created.
Most of the people in this website don’t have previous modelling experience. Knowing how to quickly and confidently communicate guidance to Michelle is crucial to meeting our goals – happy, relaxed portraits
“I had a photo shoot with Amanda yesterday and today she sent me the picks – they were amazing! She has such a great eye, technique and just creates little gems!. The whole session was fun but professional…I will definitely recommend Amanda to anyone! ” Thanks Amanda 🙂
I produce stylish portraits for the modern women that are neither cliched nor formulaic. The portraits in my portfolio are full of character and detail, captured during relaxed sessions that are ever-practical and fun – so they are easy on the purse strings and appreciated by men or women.
