Couple portrait session in Brentford, London
I was standing in a puddle, waiting.
Waving breathlessly Veronica greeted me, ‘thank goodness for GPS, we’re here!’ Kicking the burnished leaves aside, Agustin glances at my pumps, forlorn in the squelching mire, a slow smile reaching his eyes, teasing me.
The session starts with a battle, the wind.
In between the sprinkling of rain drops, the mischievous swirl of autumn leaves and the playful gusts dancing around us, we laugh at the pictures the British weather creates for us.
I wasn’t worried.
I watch as the playful wind reveals the spirited energy between Vero and her friend. The pictures as Agustin carefully smooths Vero’s hair off her face; leaping forward to clear the steps like a maritime sea dog battling with the elements and open-hearted giggles between the two, insisting the rain isn’t wet.
In the background, the trees parade their autumn colours. A worn step invites us to rest a while and share our news. A calm port of call, offering respite from the impish wind, allows for tender moments to be discovered.
The November weather wins, as victor it chases us out of the park with a final downpour. Scornful of our cold hands and damp foot wear.
Remember the saying, ‘cold hands, and warm hearts’? I know Vero’s dad is reading this post in Spain – be proud of your daughter, she is all that you hoped for – a kind, generous and confident woman. And I know this for certain … because she didn’t once complain about the British weather!
I produce stylish portraits for the modern women that are neither cliched nor formulaic. The portraits in my portfolio are full of character and detail, captured during relaxed sessions that are ever-practical and fun – so they are easy on the purse strings and appreciated by couples or families too.
